Asia Experience's trip down memory lane - Malacca
The Asia Experience team visited the historical city of Malacca. This ever popular & well known historical site was recently listed as a World Heritage Site by Unesco. It was a trip down memory lane for most of us. This city, till today, is still rich with historical and heritage sites. Malacca, is the guardian charged with the reflective task of preserving its past. Five hundred years ago, an extraordinary empire rose and fell here, its power and dreams suddenly caught off-guard by the dawn of the Colonial Era. |

Ramadhan (Fasting Month)
For over one billion Muslims throughout the world, Ramadhan is a special month of the year. During the month of Ramadhan, Muslims fast from dawn to sunset every day. Ramadhan was the month in which the first verses of the holy Qur'an were revealed to Prophet Mohammad (PBUH). It is a time for inner reflection, devotion to God and self-control. The sighting of the new moon at the end of Ramadhan heralds the celebration of Eid ul-Fitr.

City of history (Malacca) comes alive
IT was a grand celebration befitting a historic occasion when Malacca kicked off month-long festivities to mark the city's inscription as a world heritage site. Thousand of locals and tourists made their way to the renowned 17th Century Dutch Stadhuys complex as early as 7.30pm on August 1 to get a good spot to witness the celebration. The site at the former civic centre was aptly selected as it is in the heart of the state's heritage zone. |

Legend behind Pulau Perhentian
Whenever Pulau Perhentian is brought to mention, people think of its natural beauty, including its sparkling beaches. This island of 2,000 people, most of them fishermen, is popular with local and international visitors and is a major contributor to Terengganu's tourism industry. The island's residents have benefited as they are paid for lodging and boats for angling and snorkelling.
